The Friday Fix

Introducing  you to the Friday Fix. My weekly blog entry to bring solutions to any garden design problem

Email me through the week with your garden design dilemma and I will choose my favourite each Friday and post my ‘Fixes’ on this blog.

To keep up with all my Friday Fixes just use the Follow this blog button over on the right.

The first dilemma is from June in Twickenham

“How can I make my Ophiopogon planiscapus ‘Nigrescens’ (Black Grass) stand out a bit more ?”

Sprout Says

The Ophiopogon or Black Grass  is a great plant but it can easily be lost against the dark background of the soil.

Try spreading out and planting something light amongst it, pale pink Impatiens New Guinea work really well and you can extend the season by also adding pink or white Cyclamen for Autumn and Winter.

Use it in a pale coloured or silver container along with pale pinks and whites such as trailing Calibrachoa and soften with White Lobelia or Euphorbia ‘Diamond Frost’
